 The recent tragedies at Opry Mills Mall and Waffle House illustrate the human cost of our nations ineffective background check system

Mayoral candidate and Councilwoman-at-large Erica Gilmore issued the following statement: 

Nashville, TN (May 4, 2018) - “Our hearts ache that tragedy has once again befallen our city. My prayers are with the family of the young man whose life was taken.

Senseless violence has claimed another life. We must come together, as a city, to make sure that it does not touch another. My heart breaks for every, single life ensnared by this continuing, needless cycle of bloodshed. We must work urgently to purge this scourge of violence from our city and nation.”
