What is a Proclamation?
Proclamations are issued at the discretion of the councilwoman as a courtesy to Nashville residents to recognize a day, week, or month for a cause of significant citywide interest. All proclamations require suggested language. These documents are strictly honorary and are not legally binding.
Timing your Request
Requests must be made through the Office of Erica Gilmore website no less than 30 calendar days in advance of the date needed or date to be proclaimed. Proclamations may be requested, but will not be issued, more than three months in advance.
Requesting a Proclamation
Proclamations are issued for one date period (day, week, month) once per year. Requests that are similar to a proclamation previously issued the same year will be declined, and a copy of the similar proclamation will be provided instead. More information is available under the proclamation guidelines.
